The parish was created by Archbishop John Mark Gannon in May 1963, at the request of Fairview's Catholic residents. The faith with which the parish was founded has continued to grow with each new generation.

Ours is a vital community of caring, sharing people of faith. As our mission states:

Holy Cross is a Catholic community of diverse people, rooted in a heritage of faith, united by the Eucharist and the Word of God. Following Christ's example, we seek through a variety of ministries, to know, love and serve God and one another.

Father Frederick P. Reilly (1915-1983) was named first pastor. He retired in 1982, when Father Dan Dymski was appointed pastor. Father Tom Dugan was appointed the third pastor of Holy Cross in March of 1994. Our current pastor, Father Scott Detisch, Ph.D. joined the Holy Cross family in June, 2007.

Holy Cross Parish is proud of its heritage and of the spirit with which it continues its ministries and programs, serving the many needs of its parishioners. Please visit our Parish History page for more information on our beginnings.

Holy Cross Church is located in Fairview, a beautiful community in northwest Pennsylvania, on the shore of Lake Erie. Holy Cross was the first church in the Erie Diocese to be built using the guidelines established by Vatican II.
