Dear Parents,

In order to be assured that everyone is familiar with Holy Cross' policies, we are asking that all families please read the following information and sign as indicated. This sheet must accompany your registration form.

  • Children who are preparing for the Sacrament of Reconciliation in grade 2 must have proof of Baptism and have attended and completed grade 1..
  • Children who are preparing for the Sacrament of Reconciliation must be present and may not miss more than 3 classes during the class term. Arrangements must be made with Mrs. Smith to cover any information covered during a missed class.
  • Parents of children preparing for the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be asked to attend 6 parent/child coaching sessions during which they will help prepare their own child for this sacrament.
  • Children who are preparing for the Sacrament of First Communion in grade 3 must have completed grade 2 and the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
  • Children who are preparing for the Sacrament of First Communion must be present and may not miss more than 3 classes during the class term. Arrangements must be made with Mrs. Smith to cover any information covered during a missed class.
  • Parents of children preparing for First Communion will be asked to attend 6 parent/child coaching sessions during which they will help prepare their own child for this sacrament.
  • Grades 4 through 8 are important years of faith formation intended to continue the process of growth and knowledge about faith. Everyone is expected to attend and complete these years of formation.
  • Grades 9 and 10 are considered threshold years of preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. All who are planning to be confirmed in their junior year must attend and complete grades 9 and 10 of religious education at Holy Cross or in a Catholic School setting. Mrs. Smith must be informed if candidates are attending Catholic Schools. Youth are not to miss more than 3 sessions during any of these years. Any missed material must be completed.
  • Youth preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation in the 11th grade must have completed grades 9 and 10, have a sponsor who is a baptized, confirmed Catholic able to receive the Eucharist and demonstrating his/her faith. Sponsors will be asked to accompany the candidate to the class sessions. Candidates for Confirmation may not miss more than 3 sessions. Missed material must be made up.
  • Attendance at Mass and regular reception of those sacraments already received is a requirement for all grades.
