Religious Education for children and youth begins in early September and run through April each year. Everyone must register each year. Forms are available in the gathering space mid-July and must be returned by September 1. The Religious Education/Youth Ministry Registration Form is also available for
download. Print and complete the form, and place it in the collection basket with the required fees before September 1st. A religious education directory containing a complete calendar of scheduled classes and events is available beginning mid-August. View the Religous Education calendar online.
Nursery, Pre-K and K classes meet Sunday mornings during the 10 AM Mass. The sacrament of reconciliation (confession) is celebrated in second grade. Baptism and attendance at grade 1 are requirements.
First eucharist is celebrated in third grade. Baptism and reconcilication are required.
Preparation classes for parents seeking baptism for their child(ren) are held in conjunction with St. John the Evangelist Church in Girard. Classes are on the 3rd Sunday of September, January and May at 1 pm at St. John's and November, March and July at 7 pm at Holy Cross. RCIA is a process of faith formation for adults seeking to join the Roman Catholic faith or for adults who have been baptized Catholic but are uncatechized and wish to continue their faith formation in order to celebrate the sacraments of Eucharist and/or confirmation.
Sessions run throughout the year after the 10 am Mass on Sundays, and according to the needs or schedule of the participants. Please call the office and ask for Sylvia. 474-2605.
The Adult Faith Formation committee is devoted to faith formation of all adults. At the present time the parish of Holy Cross is involved in the Renew International small faith group sessions know as Why Catholic? Why Catholic? is devoted to sharing faith as set forth in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Groups meet in homes six weeks during Lent and another six weeks in the fall. Larger diocesan gatherings are held for Why Catholic? participants at various times throughout the year. Holy Cross completed its final 6 week session of Why Catholic? in the fall of 2009.
